TIM AMBREY
OPENING KEYNOTE SPEAKER - TUESDAY JUNE 10th
Management Skills for Lean Production: can't learn to ride a bicycle in a conference room - Effective and sustainable Lean Production implementation requires at its very core two key components: an understanding of visual control tools, and a management scheme which demands manager’s interaction with such to PULL crucial information from the very confusing workplace. Classic failures in the pursuit of cost reduction through “lean implementation” include introduction of the tools of lean (kan ban, VSM, andon, etc) without a suitable management understanding of the their purpose and/or the lack of a complementary revision to existing management practices. Tim will discuss the fundamental elements to effective lean implementation, calling heavily on anecdotal discussion based on Autoliv’s past failures and successes.
FRANK DIXON
LUNCHEON KEYNOTE SPEAKER - TUESDAY JUNE 10th
Sustainability: The Next Level - Frank Dixon is a Managing Director of Innovest Strategic Value Advisors, a financial services firm based in New York,
London, Paris, Madrid and Toronto. Hear how, hundreds of corporations around the world are gaining major financial
and competitive benefits by integrating sustainability and lean manufacturing into their core business strategies.
Yet in spite of this great work, environmental and social conditions are declining rapidly. This begs the question,
what’s wrong with the sustainability and corporate responsibility movements? The answer largely is that much
more attention must be given to improving overarching economic, political and social systems to operate as
sustainable entities. Frank will show you how a system change-based approach to sustainability, called Total
Corporate Responsibility (TCR) provides a practical, profitable, collaborative, business-led approach to driving
the system changes needed to achieve sustainability.
GARRY O. RIDGE
MORNING KEYNOTE SPEAKER - WEDNESDAY JUNE 11th
Transformation of WD-40 - Garry Ridge transformed WD-40 into a well-oiled sales and marketing machine. Beyond its flagship product,
the multi-purpose lubricant WD-40, the company is known for its fortress of brands, which include 3-IN-ONE,
the Lava and Solvol brands of heavy-duty hand cleaners, and household products X-14, 2000 Flushes, Carpet Fresh
and Spot Shot. You will find their product under the sink, in the garage and in the toolboxes of the world. Over the
years, thousands of WD-40 users have written testimonial letters to the company sharing their often unique, if sometimes
just plain weird uses for the product. Garry will share his “Top 10 plus One” key elements for WD-40 where
learning is not only promoted but is executed. He will include some interesting stories like the bus driver in Asia who
used WD-40 to remove a python snake which had coiled itself around the undercarriage of his bus. Or when police
officers used WD-40 to remove a naked burglar trapped in an air conditioning vent. Be prepared to be enlightened.
ALVIN LAW
LUNCHEON KEYNOTE SPEAKER - WEDNESDAY JUNE 11th
No Such Word as Can't: Overcoming Challenges of Life - In 2005, Alvin Law received his Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation. Less than ten percent of speakers
globally have a CSP designation. Alvin’s story has been the subject of three award winning Television Documentaries.
He’s been a disc jockey, sports announcer and television broadcaster. Since 1976, he has played a direct role in
helping raise over 150 million dollars for charity! Alvin Law wants to use his record of achievement not to brag or
call attention to himself, but as an example of what is truly possible in a world full of challenges. Challenges you
see for Alvin Law began early in life, as he was born without arms. Experts predicted he would never be able to
do anything on his own, that his disability would prevent him from attaining any quality of life. It seems they
were wrong. All speakers talk about attitude. Alvin is someone who lives it. Be prepared to be awed.
