Title:

Kaizen Events across the Lean Enterprise
Achieving rapid improvement in office, service, and technical settings
Workshop
Abstract:

Creating a Lean Enterprise in office, service, and technical settings is challenging, but essential for achieving optimal organizational performance. Kaizen Events, while proven in manufacturing, hold even greater promise for office and service environments who are less accustomed to cross-functional problem-solving, measuring process performance, and implementing rapid change. However, holding Kaizen Events in these settings require significant planning, unique facilitation strategies during the event, and specific follow-up activities to ensure significant, sustainable results.

**Workshop participants should possess a solid understanding of Lean principles, value stream mapping and waste identification. Participants should also possess a solid understanding of and experience with organizational dynamics and the change process.

Specific Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will learn:

  • The step-by-step approach for planning and executing office-based Kaizen Events, and how to create a Sustainability Plan with teeth through discussion and hand-on exercises, workshop participants will learn
  • And participate in a simulation to introduce them to metrics-based process mapping, an effective tool for analyzing and improving processes at the “micro” level
