Title:

Breaking Out of Jail
Designing Lean Jails and Jail processes
Presentation Abstract:

The idea of operating Lean is not just limited to the typical manufacturing process. It spans across all areas of business encompassing corporate, private and public sectors. Even in today’s world the design of buildings and the operation of the work processes in those buildings must be designed to run Lean. Designs must be based on raw materials, intake, circulation, support services, separation, control, processes, inventory and shipping. This presentation covers case studies of how a jail is designed, operated and the impacts on the bottom line when thinking Lean. A Jail can be thought of as a special type of manufacturing facility.

Glen will explore an actual case design of a new jail facility, a large prison, and its relationship to Lean manufacturing. This is truly a different way of looking at Lean in building design and what others are doing.
