Title:

Lean Business Proce$$
New Techniques for Next Gen Lean Enterprise
Presentation Abstract:

The theory behind Lean Enterprise or Lean Business improvement is basic – look for the variation in the overall process, between divisions and centralized corporate functions. The best approach for affecting broad change in your corporate business processes will always depend on the scope of your team – with functions, departments, and divisions that are in the routing between the inception of the demand for the project or service, and receipt of that service by the end user, defined as the customer.

Picking the right approach to map and understand the process at the right level of detail is the key to successful and lasting change. One size does not fit all, and keeping a team engaged and focused until results are achieved, is not the same methodology in the executive suite as they are in the factory. Here is a simple and straightforward schema that has served Victaulic well.

  • Level 1 is simple functional waste elimination with one business function.
  • Level 2 is more sophisticated, looking at an entire department or homogeneous division within the company.
  • Level 3 is the most refined, looking across several executive organizations in the corporation. Each of these approaches will be detailed with some theory and supported with some details from case studies.
