Presentation Abstract:

This presentation will explore the Lean thinking used to identify problems and develop solutions to the many challenges M2 Global has faced over the years (and more importantly, over the past three years). The focus is on Teams, Lean, Time to Market, and Customer Satisfaction. The results of Lean thinking in each of the four value streams—and how the principles and tools were used to identify problems and develop solutions—will be highlighted. An emphasis will also be placed on M2 Global’s current culture and how they are moving to higher levels of improvement.

About the Company:

M2 Global Technology, Ltd. is an AS9100, service-disabled veteran small business that specializes in aerospace parts and microwave components in systems. M2 Global’s vision is to be the "Knock Your Socks Off" provider of technical manufacturing services through innovative ideas and solutions. They have used this vision to achieve the transition from a large publicly held company (Harris Corporation) to a small privately held company, and again from a commercial to a defense supplier. M2 Global Technology has been benchmarked by several large companies, including Raytheon and Harley Davidson. M2 Global was selected for the U.S.  Air Force Small Business “Teaming for Success” Award in 2006 and for AME's Award for Manufacturing Excellence in 2006 and 2007.

Douglas Carlberg, CEO/President

Douglas Carlberg is CEO/President of M2 Global, Inc. Mr. Carlberg has held senior management positions with Harris Corporation. Tracor Aerospace, Hughes Aircraft Company, and General Electric Company. His published works include "Rapid Prototyping" (National Research Council), "Managing Change" (Journal for Quality and Participation), and "Stable Chaos: Leading Change in the Fast Lane" (AME Target Magazine).

Archie Wohlfahrt, Senior Director, Business Development

Archie Wohlfahrt is Senior Director for Business Development for M2 Global Technology, Ltd. Mr. Wohlfahrt has held key management positions with Motorola, Data Point, and Harris Corporation, where he served as the change agent for product time to market. He has presented at the AME Program Management and Lean Product Design workshops.
